Comparative Study of Product Design Study Laboratory ISI Yogyakarta with Politeknik ATMI Surakarta

DESPRO NEWS (July 8, 2022) Since its establishment in 2015, ISI Yogyakarta's Product Design Study Program has always tried to improve its quality. One of the things that continues to be developed is the provision of design laboratory facilities to support academic activities. Until now, there are several laboratory facilities in the Product Design Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta, namely Lab. 3D Printing, Lab. Mini Studio (Product Photo), and Lab. Computer. ISI Yogyakarta Product Design Study Program community audiences (students and lecturers) expect more design laboratory facilities. Efforts to establish other design laboratories are in the pioneering process. To support this process, the lecturers also conducted a comparative study to Politeknik ATMI Surakarta to see the laboratory there and make it a reference for the provision / arrangement and management of laboratories in the future.

Several representative lecturers, namely Dr. Rahmawan Dwi Prasetya, S.Sn., M.Si., Nor Jayadi, S.Sn., M.A., Patrisius Edi P., S.T., M.Sc., and Sekar Adita, S.Sn., M.Sn. visited the campus located on Jl. Mojo No. 1, Karangasem, Kec. Laweyan, Surakarta City, Central Java this Friday. During the visit, the ISI Yogyakarta Product Design Study Program lecturer was accompanied by Adhi Setya Hutama, who is one of the lecturers of the Manufacturing Design Study Program at Politeknik ATMI Surakarta. In addition to visiting several laboratories available there, discussions were also held regarding what tools were used and laboratory governance. Through comparative study activities, it is hoped that the pioneering of design laboratories in ISI Yogyakarta's Product Design Study Program can be more mature.
