DESPRO NEWS (June 12, 2021) As an implementation of one of the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely Community Service, 3 lecturers of the Product Design Study Program, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISIYK) went to the community in the Kokap Kulon Progo area. The three lecturers are Dr. Rahmawan D. Prasetya, S.Sn., M.Si. (Kaprodi Despro), Nor Jayadi, S.Sn., M.A. (Sesprodi Despro), and Endro Tri Susanto, S.Sn., M.Sn. They collaborated with the Yogyakarta Special Region Provincial Government through the Department of Industry and Trade, ISIYK's Despro Study Program held training activities for Small and Medium Industry (IKM) players at the Anugerah Furniture Group Wood IKM, Selo Timur, Hargorejo, Kokap, Kulon Progo. The activity, which was initiated by Lilik Syaiful Ahmad, a member of the DIY DPRD in the Kulon Progo electoral district, took place from June 9-11, 2021 and was attended by around 20 participants under strict health protocols.
The material presented in the training was mainly to motivate the participants to be able to be independent during this unknown pandemic, which makes it difficult for them from an economic aspect. They were trained to have the skills to make wood-based products that are easily found in their area. At this early stage, they were given practical training materials for making door and window frames. This door and window frame product was chosen with consideration of the ease of workmanship, both in relation to the training time, the basic abilities of the participants, and the availability of materials and production equipment. Lilik Syaiful Ahmad, the initiator, and Sri Nurdewi Aryani from the Industry and Trade Office of the Yogyakarta Provincial Government were present and gave directions at the opening ceremony.
