DESPRO NEWS (07 May 2017) In Indonesia, there are only 3 state universities (PTN) that organize S-1 Product Design education, namely Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya, and Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta. As the youngest study program, Despro ISI Yogyakarta feels obliged to take the initiative to hold formal communication with its 2 predecessors. By considering various things, this year Despro ISI Yogyakarta decided to hold a working visit to ITS Surabaya first as part of the communication and social interaction of study programs in the field within the scope of state universities.
The working visit on Friday, May 5, 2017 was successfully carried out. The delegation from Despro ISI Yogyakarta consisted of 7 people consisting of the Chairperson and Secretary of the ISI Yogyakarta Product Design Study Program (Drs. Baskoro Suryo Banindro, M.Sn., and Dra. RAMM Pandansari Kusumo, M.Sn.), and 2 lecturers of the ISI Yogyakarta Product Design Study Program (Rahmawan D. Prasetya, S.Sn., M.Sc., Drs. Endro Trisusanto, M.Sn.) accompanied by 2 education staff from the Education subdivision of FSR ISI Yogyakarta and followed by 1 student (Isnaini Monika) were welcomed by the Head of the Product Design Department, Ellya Zulaikha, ST, M.Sn., accompanied by Dr. Agus Windharto, DEA, and other ITS Product Design Department lecturers.
The Despro ISI Yogyakarta group was also invited to tour the Campus of the Product Design Department of the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology Surabaya to review the facilities and infrastructure as well as the teaching and learning process carried out at the ITS Product Design Department. The event which took place warmly and friendly ended with the submission of souvenirs from ISI Yogyakarta.
After the lunch program, the group of Despro ISI Yogyakarta was given the opportunity to visit Design Studio on Jl. Rungkut Asri Timur XIII, Surabaya which is a real application of design learning in the academic realm of ITS. After listening to the presentation and discussion, the Despro ISI Yogyakarta group and the design team led by Dr. Agus Windharto, DEA. took a picture together and then the Despro ISI Yogyakarta group said goodbye to return to Yogyakarta.
