DESPRO NEWS (November 23, 2015) A one-day workshop on scientific journal management was held last Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Harper Hotel Yogyakarta, Jalan P. Mangkubumi Yogyakarta. The event was organized by Jurnal RESITAL, Faculty of Performing Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta and invited 2 speakers from UNES and UIN Yogyakarta. The workshop mainly discussed DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journal) as another alternative to the reputation status of a journal in addition to the SCOPUS index and ISI THOMSON which have been recognized by DIKTI. As the name DOAJ implies (open access), the journals listed there are also unpaid or can be accessed for free. Even though it is free access, it is not easy to enter and be listed in DOAJ as a reputable journal. Various requirements must be met first. Therefore, the workshop was held as an entry point for scientific journals within ISI Yogyakarta to prepare themselves if they want to become reputable journals.
Approximately 30 lecturers who also serve as managers of scientific journals within the Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta attended the event. Also present to give a speech was Dr. Bambang Pudjasworo, SST. M.Hum, Assistant Dean I of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta. The ISI Yogyakarta Product Design Study Program itself participated in the event by sending one of its lecturers who is also the manager of the Despro Journal, Rahmawan D. Prasetya, SSn., MSi.
