DESPROISIYK-AMKRI

DESPRO NEWS (November 06, 2015) Friday, November 06, 2015 may be said to be a historic day for the relationship between DESPRO (Product Design Study Program) ISIYK and AMKRI (Indonesian Furniture and Craft Association) Yogyakarta Special Region. Because, on that day the two institutions met and agreed to synergize to advance the furniture and craft industry in Yogyakarta and its surroundings. Took place at Tjokro Style Hotel, Jl. Menteri Supeno, Yogyakarta, the Chairperson of AMKRI DIY DPD, Hj Indah Rahayu Murnihati, SE, accompanied by the board, conveyed various important issues, including the obstacles faced and hopes for the future. "AMKRI DIY currently has 76 members, approximately 701 of which are engaged in the furniture industry, while the rest are in the handicraft industry. We see potential problems in facing the implementation of the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) in January 2016, if we do not prepare ourselves well," he added.
Therefore, at the end of the meeting, the two reached an agreement to synergize and collaborate to deal with these issues, especially those related to the design development of furniture and handicraft products. The Head of the ISIYK Product Design Study Program, Drs. Baskoro Suryo B., MSn, said that the initiation of the collaboration was a very positive thing for both parties, both from the practitioners and academics. "Cooperation that is symbiotic mutualism will benefit both parties", he said.
